CORPORATE

Jasma Wheeler, OPTIMA™ Customer Success Liaison

How long have you been with AMP?
Since February, so it’s been three years now.

What initially drew you to AMP?
I came to DeKalb for college, originally from Chicago. While studying marketing, I heard about AMP through presentations and classmates who interned there. After graduating, I decided to stay in DeKalb, and through my best friend Marisol, who also works here, I got a deeper introduction and decided to join.

What do you find most rewarding about working at AMP?
Connecting with customers. I help onboard them into our programs and later follow up during renewals. Hearing how much our services have helped their businesses is really rewarding.

What key skills have you gained since joining AMP?
Adaptability—shifting from traditional verification to social platforms. Patience—especially when dealing with high-stress customer issues. And relatability—running a small business myself helps me understand and communicate with our clients better.

How do you stay motivated and continue growing in your role?
My small business keeps me connected to our clients’ challenges. I’m also motivated by performance metrics like quality checks. They show me how I’m improving and where I can grow.

Is there a piece of career advice that’s really stuck with you?
Be flexible. You might not start exactly where you imagined, but if you stay open, the path that unfolds can be an even better fit.

With all that you’ve learned at AMP, how do you personally define success in your career?
Success is about learning. Staying open to new knowledge keeps you growing and discovering new strengths.

What goals are you currently working towards?
Learning my new Customer Success Liaison role well enough to train others. I also want to continue helping across teams especially in areas like domain assistance, and eventually work both remotely and in-office.

Is there anything you would have done differently?
I would have started networking earlier like probably my freshman year. It’s not just what you know, but who you know that often opens doors.

What’s one piece of wisdom or insight you’d like to leave us with?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. It’s how you learn, grow, and connect with others. There’s no shame in not knowing everything right away.

OUTSIDE SALES

Sarah Cannon, Manager in Training

How long have you been with AMP?

I’ve been with AMP for about a year and a half now.

What drew you here in the first place? Was there anything particular about the opportunity?

I really liked that this job lets me support local businesses in my community. I grew up in the same town for 20 years, so I knew a lot of businesses, but with this job, I got to discover many new ones I hadn’t known about before.

What is your favorite part of AMP’s mission?

I love that we’re fairly priced. I’ve met a lot of business owners who pay what we charge annually every single month somewhere else. When I explain everything included in our package, their reactions are priceless. It makes you even more confident in what you sell.

Given some of your experiences at AMP, what are some key skills you’ve picked up?

Definitely learning to handle hearing “no.” At my previous job, people were usually excited to see you, but here it takes time for business owners to trust that you’re there to help, not just criticize. Getting through those initial no’s and staying persistent has been a big learning curve.

What has been your biggest achievement so far?

Becoming an Assistant District Trainer. I didn’t expect to be training others so soon, but it’s helped me grow a lot. Traveling to other communities and seeing that others share the same challenges has been refreshing and motivating. I love training others!

Have you had any standout trainers or mentors who left you with advice that really sticks with you?

My District Manager has been amazing. He’s not just skilled at sales but also someone I turn to for advice about work and even personal stuff. He’s confident, positive, and always ready to help me handle tough situations professionally.

Thinking about the future, where do you see yourself in the next five years at AMP?

I definitely want to be on the Mexico trip! I also want to grow our district and train as many people as possible, helping them build confidence and handle objections. Recently, I even trained in another district, which was a great experience and helped me learn new things.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone starting out in your position?

Just keep going. When I first started, I met my eight sales then had a lot of no’s. I remember calling my manager, feeling overwhelmed and thinking, ‘This isn’t for me, it’s not working, maybe I should quit.’ But he reminded me that the key is to keep pushing through.

INSIDE SALES

Anslee Bunch, Senior Business Development Representative

How long have you been at AMP?
I started at AMP in May 2024, so a little over a year.

What drew you to AMP in the first place? Was there anything specific about the opportunity that stood out to you?
I was really interested in working with small, family-owned businesses. Once I learned how affordable and effective AMP’s products are, I knew I wanted to help offer those solutions.

What do you find to be the most rewarding part about working at AMP?
Helping small businesses and seeing the real-time impact our products have on their day-to-day operations is incredibly rewarding.

How do you keep yourself motivated and continue to grow in your role?
The monthly contests and sales incentives keep things fun and competitive. Weekly check-ins with my manager and goals like qualifying for the annual company trip also keep me on track.

What was it like joining AMP and starting on a new team?
It was exciting to be the first member of the BDR team and help build it from the ground up. Seeing how far we’ve come has been really rewarding.

Has there been a setback you’ve faced, and how did you deal with it?
I hit a rut a few months in and was hard on myself. I had to refocus, stick to my habits, and lean on my team’s support to bounce back.

What’s a good piece of career advice you’ve received?
Always be open to learning whether it’s from a manager or a peer, there’s something new to take in every day.

How has AMP supported your career growth and development?
AMP offers great support from leadership and regular learning opportunities. Weekly training sessions even on personal topics have been really helpful.

With all your experience, how do you personally define success in your career?
Success is doing better than the day before whether it’s making one more call or asking one more question. It’s about consistent growth.

Thinking about the future, where do you see yourself at AMP in the next five years? How are you preparing for that?
I hope to be well-versed in all our products and ready to support even more business owners. I’m staying open to learning and growing with the company.

What’s one piece of wisdom or insight you’d like to share with someone just starting in your role?
We’ve all been in your shoes. You’re not alone. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and push yourself, even when it’s uncomfortable.

SALES LEADERSHIP

Janelle Hannon, Inside Sales Manager

How long have you been with AMP?

I started in January 2011, so about 14 and a half years. I joined a week after graduating from Southern Illinois University.

Was there anything in particular that drew you to the opportunity here?

I come from a small family-owned business, so AMP’s mission really resonated with me. I loved the idea of helping other small businesses like my family’s.

What have you found most rewarding since working at AMP?
Helping small businesses is always rewarding, but I’d also say seeing my hard work recognized both financially and professionally has been huge. As a leader, watching my team grow, hit goals, and realize they’re capable of more than they thought is the most fulfilling part.

How do you keep yourself motivated and keep growing?

After 14 years, you learn to constantly reinvigorate, reinvent, and challenge yourself. Growth happens when things get tough. AMP surrounds us with leaders who push us, and there’s always something new to work toward. I stay motivated by keeping my personal “why” front and center—especially during tough times.

Have you had any mentors that have made a big impact on your career?

Brandy McGoldrick helped me early on to embrace hard work and failure. More recently, Ashley Fox has been huge in my growth. She’s helped me realize you don’t have to feel ready. You can just jump in, fail, practice, and keep going. That mindset has helped me embrace change and take on bigger challenges.

What goals are you currently working towards?

With this being our final year of print, we’re focused on transitioning fully to digital. I want my team to become the top digital-selling team at AMP. That starts with me leading by example and showing them they can succeed just as much—if not more—selling digital.

With all the experience you’ve gained, how do you personally define success in your career?
Success means continuously growing, embracing change, and pushing through challenges. It’s about setting goals, adapting, and helping others grow along the way. We’re with an organization that continues to evolve, and it’s fun to be alongside others on that same journey.

Is there any piece of wisdom or insight you’ve learned in your journey that you’d share with someone just starting out?
Expect challenges. It won’t be easy, but just jump in and trust that you’re capable. AMP gives you all the support you need to get where you want to go.
